Foothold's Foaming Castile Soap (Pump & Bumper sold separately)
Foothold's Foaming Castile Soap (Pump & Bumper sold separately)
This Castile Soap pictured can be custom scented with nearly any fragrance and/or essential oil imaginable! Color and clarity of the soap will vary when fragrances and/or essential oils are added. This homemade liquid soap is gentle and cleansing, made with the most basic wholesome ingredients. It is made for hands, body, & hair.
The foaming pump is not included unless otherwise stated. Please use a foaming pump because Castile soap is potent, but it is also thinner in consistency than commercial soaps that have been artificially thickened.
Foothold first began making only bar soap instead of liquid mainly to reduce packaging and overall landfill waste. As we mastered the art of swirls and scents, the bar soaps became work of art in addition to their benefits to skin, but liquid soap requests pressured us to find solutions, & the obvious sat in front of us as we ladled our first batch into an oversized canning jar.
To promote cleansing & moisturizing properties, this soap behaves like most manufactured Castile soaps, but instead contains what we believe is a more effective blend of olive oil (gentle & conditioning), coconut(antimicrobial & sudsy), & castor (super sudsy & moisturizing).
As a handmade product, you can expect some variability. No two batches ever come out exactly the same, and when fragrance and/or essential oils are added, things get even more interesting.
Temperature will affect the clarity of your liquid soap, so it acts a bit like a thermometer. Colder temperatures bring out the white color, making the soap cloudy. Warming it above 75 degrees should bring it to a golden clear. When cloudy, shake up the bottle to see a beautiful pearly effect.
Liquid Soap Tips:
- Dilute with warm water if you'd like to make it last longer or lighten the scent. Soft water or distilled water works best. Hard water can reduce the soap's sudsy-ness.
- Separation is normal, which looks like white soap floating to the bottom of the jar. If it bothers you, shake it up or let it settle & siphon off the clear. If white settles on the bottom of your bottle, these is normal fatty acids in your soap – just visually annoying to some , but can be effective stain removal for oil-based stains.
- Use only foaming dispensers to make it last.
Although this soap is handmade in Ohio, the proceeds support women's groups in Africa making soap, washable sanitary pads, and Biosand water filters. These women are transforming their community and increasing their status.
